I opened my little treat from Higashiya today.

I had purchased some candied kumquat peel, which came wrapped with paper and leather twine in this darling ceramic bowl.



Wouldn't it be lovely if all candied treats were served with a side of ceramics?

Let's have cereal for every meal! Or at least stews, soups, porridge, ice cream, and anything else that could be served by bowl. Who needs plates, if you set the table with these bowls from One Kiln.

I loved the patterned porcelain at one of the shops near our serviced apartment in Shanghai. They offered really modern, interesting patterns including a burnout lace pattern, a faux dip-dye, a collections of thin lines, as well as coral motifs. I really adore that small pitcher in the center of the photograph.

I would have loved to be in L.A./Sausalito for the Playmountain pop-up shop that opened this month in Heath Ceramics. I will have to plan a visit when I'm in Tokyo in late September.

I really like these whimsical dog silhouette plates by artist Mike Miller for West Elm. Can you guess which one I picked up today?

Russel Wright was certainly ahead of his time—creating and marketing a range of lifestyle products with an overarching brand persona. His line included casual tableware, furniture, and home décor to suit the needs of the modern American lifestyle from the 1920s well into the '60s. Russel and his wife Mary coined an "easy living" philosophy that was simple, "good informal living substitutes a little headwork for a lot of legwork. His dinnerware lines are full of playful color and mix well with other modern pottery collections. I'm thinking that they'd look splendid with a few of my MUD Australia pieces.

Things are moving along. The truck arrived yesterday with all of our things and we've spent the last day or so trying to unpack everything. I feel driven to get things in order again.
