My bags are packed and I'm heading to New York for a week-long stint. I can't wait to see my parents, eat bagels, go for brunch with friends, take an evening drive to my favorite beach, visit my nanny, and perhaps even take a short trip to Pennsylvania.
Wishing you a wonderful week, wherever you find yourself!

EXPEDITION BORNEO from Eric Huyton on Vimeo.
We are really getting excited about our upcoming trip to Japan, Malaysia, and the rain forests of Borneo. Here's some amazing footage of the wildlife that we'll hopefully encounter. Well, minus the river snakes.

We have big plans coming up to visit our friends in Malaysia for a vow renewal this September. There are a lot of details to iron out, but I'm looking forward to formulating our plan. It looks like we'll be spending some time in Tokyo before swinging over to Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu and I couldn't be more excited.

Today we fly to Portland to visit friends, which is really all the more exciting because we're engaged!! So many things have happened in the past few weeks which is why I've been so lax in posting. Lots more great news to come!

Today we leave for San Francisco where we will finally be on our way to the beautiful Redwood trees of the mountain and the warm sunshine of Napa Valley. I can't wait to celebrate M's birthday, see how F's girls are doing, and find out what Max has been up to. There's lots to do in S.F. too with a possible end of the week trip up to Portland to see friends.

We just walked in the door to find these luscious, black mission figs from California waiting for us. I haven't decided what to do with them—a rich velvety jam or sliced up alongside some creamy Chevre or perhaps filled with ricotta and drizzled with aged balsamic—the possibilities are endless. It's amazing what a little time on a ship can do to inspire oneself in the kitchen, especially after eating heavy pastry-crusted meat pies and almond pumpkin soup one too many times; fresh summer produce almost overwhelms.
