My mom just sent me this photo of the lilies in her garden. I love that color!

Having spent all of my summers at the beach as a kid, I had to make it down to the shore before I left New York.

We took Snaps for a run at Nickerson Beach and combed the shoreline for treasures.

My bags are packed and I'm heading to New York for a week-long stint. I can't wait to see my parents, eat bagels, go for brunch with friends, take an evening drive to my favorite beach, visit my nanny, and perhaps even take a short trip to Pennsylvania.

Wishing you a wonderful week, wherever you find yourself!

After a long waiting period, our Nelson bubble lamp arrived and was installed yesterday!

Spending time in Stockholm really opened my eyes to the importance of good lighting. I don't think Scandinavians know how to make bad lighting choices. It is simply always a consideration--whether it's natural sunlight or warm hues from linen shades and lanterns, which makes sense considering the short hours of winter daylight.

Returning from the Arctic and slamming straight into a New York City heat wave, is unlike any other climate shock that I've ever experienced.

There is an inbox that needs sorting, projects at work that need tending, and an end of summer dinner party that needs planning. All this and I haven't even sorted through my Arctic photographs yet.

But despite all the hustle and bustle, it's good to be home in this noisy, dirty, sweaty city. I've missed you New York.

After being away in Japan for over three weeks, I'm finally starting to adjust to New York time, and the New York pace. It's definitely taken longer this time around.

It hasn't, however, taken long at all for us to salivate over bagels with cream cheese and for me personally, coffee that's not from a can. We've been looking for all things comforting lately including a surprising craving for dairy, which is why this weekend, I'm taking a tip from Bon Appetit and from Lisa and making all things homey.

Roasted chicken with thyme and rosemary
Fresh homemade ricotta tossed with pasta in a tomato zucchini sauce
Tomato soup with a dollop of sour cream and dill

Just to name a few.
