There's a lot of spring cleaning going on around here this weekend. The books are up off the floor, the couch is vaccuumed, and the holes in walls have been patched and painted.
We leave tomorrow for a few days of camping on the coast with friends and family. I'm really looking forward to spending some time around a fire, working on my knitting project, hiking, kayaking, and preparing some communal meals. I will be back on Monday with lots of lovely photos to share.
Have you ever seen such beautiful branches in your life? This gorgeous bushel contains the branches of a chestnut tree. Apparently the spiny, green burrs (or cupules) can contain up to seven nuts depending on its variety. When the nuts inside have ripened the burr turns yellow-brown and splits to reveal the chestnuts.
I found this creative arrangement at Sammy's Flowers. It's a pretty idea for the end of a restaurant bar, a central table in a foyer or on a table at a big rustic farm table wedding. I will definitely keep it in mind.
PS: Isn't that a cool, rustic mirror in the background?
