My favorite moments in Nanjing were peaceful ones when we weren't beating back the crowds, turning lazy susans or fighting with surly cab drivers. These are a few snaps from our time in a
scholar's garden in the center of town. We found this lovely man drawing characters with water on the stone bridge.
The gardens made us fantasize about walking the paths in traditional garb, leaving hair pins that our delicate and articulate scholarly suitors would find and compose poems about.
